Buckwheat Porridge with Tushenka

Ingredients

  • 1 jar Gold Tushenka beef (500g)
  • 200g buckwheat groats
  • 400 ml water
  • Salt to taste
  • Butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse buckwheat and add to a camp pot or saucepan.
  2. Add water, salt, and bring to a boil.
  3. Simmer on low heat for 10 minutes until water is almost absorbed.
  4. Add Gold Tushenka beef, stir. Cover and let sit 5 minutes.
  5. Add a knob of butter if desired. Serve hot.
Tips

Over a campfire, use embers rather than open flame so the porridge won't burn. The 1:2 ratio (buckwheat to water) guarantees fluffy results. Try adding onion fried in the jar's fat.
